Where the hell are all the artsy guys in Chicago?
I live in the area of Wicker Park/ East Ukrainian village and whenever I go there, there are a bunch of poser hipsters who tell me they’re in a band, but once I ask to hear their stuff, they start changing the topic. Where can I find some guys that are actually into the arts?
Are you kidding me? Englewood? =/
My Uncle is REALLY artsy and lives in Chicago. He is gay & married to his Husband. Go to an Art Museum or where you like to go see art. You should find ppl with the same interests there. Good luck

Could you check over my answers?
this is a science worksheet on plate tectonics -
Plate boundaries include convergent, divergent, and transform.
Convergent form volcanic mountains, major earthquakes, and mid-ocean ridges.
Divergent form volcanic mountains and rift valleys.
Transform cause deep-sea trenches.
- are those facts right? (the worksheet had a concept map with bubbles, so i just wrote down the sentences it’d make.)
1) Correct.
2) No. Why do mid-ocean ridges form?
3) No. Where does the material for volcanoes come from? What’s the chemical make-up of the lava? Why didn’t I mention volcanoes in question 2? (Hint Hint Hint)
4) No. What causes trenches to form?
Check out what your textbook says on these last three questions.

Isn't global warming due to technology, a natural phenomenon?
Technology is a product of an intelligent mind, a consequence of evolution, and thus a natural phenomenon. If we are foolish enough to poison our atmosphere, isn’t it natural? Are we not following the example set by early bacteria, which changed the Earth’s atmosphere by producing oxygen and making it suitable for cellular life forms? Aren’t we simply creating a world in which, if we do not survive, another dominant species will arise?
Your thoughts appreciated.
no it is not ,It abut increasing the number of population’s i think so

What warming exists is a natural phenomenon and it actually saved us from the ice ages. Al Gore is mentally ill and every person who believes him is like the people on this site who talk about horoscopes as though they were real.
Gore needs to undergo a mental evaluation, in my opinion, to see if he’s competent enough to stand trial for his mass deceptions and lies.

The earth has been global warming ever since the ice age
Rev | Feb 01, 2010
The main cause of global warming is the success of the human population. We keep increasing in numbers, using up more oxygen and cutting down the trees which would otherwise restore oxygen. That means the balance in the atmosphere between oxygen and carbon gases is upset, generally warming the atmosphere and causing various problems like climate change and rising sea levels.
Fiddling around with the amounts of fossil fuels we use might help, but it’s a little like bailing out a sinking ship with a teaspoon. We need more radical solutions. A cull is out of the question. OK, we might kill off a few million with wars in the Middle East, but we’d need to get rid of a couple of billion to make any real impact. The alternative would be to plant more trees - and I’m talking huge scale. The Sahara Desert used to be rain forest before our ancestors cut down the trees to grow grain. We have the technology to change it back, but it would involve international cooperation on a huge scale.
If we do nothing, large populated areas of the world will become flooded and human habitation will become impossible. This will lead to large scale war as displaced people try to move in on the land that other people want for themselves. That might succeed in getting rid of a lot of us. The high concentration of carbon gases provide an ideal environment for vegetation and eventually nature will rebalance itself. With luck sufficient humans would survive to learn from the mistakes of their ancestors. Otherwise, cats will take over.

Life and intelligence are an accidental product of change just as new diseases are a product of new health regulations i.e. cure one disease and another will take its place. This planet we live on has changed many times during its existence. Some changes were brought about by outside influences such as asteroids hitting the earth and others were brought about by its own internal upsets such as volcanoes. This country we live in has suffered ice ages and heatwaves on a more or less regular basis for millions of years - long before man came onto the scene. Maybe man has contributed to so called ‘global warming’ I don’t know for sure but what I do know is that it has happened before we came on the scene and it will happen long after we leave.

Global warming actually does not have sufficient data to back it. True, the worlds climate has climbed a few degrees in the past decades, but this is a natural cycle. Recently, however, there has been evidence that the world is actually getting colder and going into a mini ice age.
MaxD | Feb 01, 2010
This is true. But this is just one way to simplify the issue, by rationalising it, by being too objective in the view of cases that when looked at little subjectively might seem a great deal different. You have thought thoroughly things and reached the undeniable truth about nature, but what about the truth about human being. This true that organisms and the nature of all things, being in reality one, being in a relation as the producer and the produce, being interlinked as the causes and the affect, do effect, alter and modify each other, with nature each time winning, dominant in each instance, each time using its produce, bacteria and the lot for its own biological purposes, using all organisms as agents for its much need change; the fact is that the all change in the world is natural and all things its hapless instruments, the tool of nature to interment and forge its way forward to some unforeseeable ends.
This is true that in the past bacteria change the atmosphere, and the oceans, in their composition quite radically. However, we see, as to the best of our knowledge, nothing has been like human organism: active, intelligent, critical, but aggressive and radical. We have changed the natural environment the way it has never been changed before, the bacterial output of various gases into the atmosphere, of deposition of sediments at ocean floors, the activity of micro plankton, their absorption of carbon dioxide and release of oxygen, all are, and have been, simplistic natural phenomena. However massive in scale they are or have been they are no match for the intrusiveness of human intervention and design.
The problem with human intervention therefore is not of its scale, its global effect, its massiveness, but of the intricacy and complexity of the human involvedness. The question is not if human beings should by their activities interact and therefore change the natural global environment, but how, as how much, in what way and to what extent, should this involvedness be, and how complicated. As if the environment is changed far too much to remain favourable, and supportive, of human life, and even of life in general, then this obviously will be going too far, causing problems far too big and complex for our human ability or means to come to terms with.

control the masses who otherwise would not be quite?
This is my comment on the subject of God and religion. Religion faith is just that, faith, it cannot be shown to be true or false, we believe what suits us, and there are a great many beliefs to choose from. We can even construct our own personal belief. I did not want to write this page as I felt it would upset a lot of people. It is written however, in response to all those who have sent me quotes from the bible to support their argument that the contents of the bible are true, that God does exist, and so on. Fair enough, it’s up to them to believe in whatever they want and to worship whichever God they prefer, but I strongly defend my right to reject religion in its entirety.
It is of course just as impossible for me to prove that all religions are false as it is for believers to prove that religions are true. However, the following are my reasons for why I do not believe in any religion.
For the vast majority of people their religion is something that was forced upon them at birth and taught to them while at a very young and impressionable age. I do realise that some people find religion later in life as a mature adult, such as born again Christians for example, (note "again"), but they are very much in the minority in the overall world population. Some of us even reject religion as mature adults, even though we were raised in a religious belief. Religion is, to the majority, a belief system that they were indoctrinated into, not one they chose when they were of an age to make their own decisions, because by that time they were already conditioned into the ‘faith’. Religion is therefore very much to do with a person’s society, culture and history and says little about a person’s faith. Faith of course is real, lots of people have faith in one religion or another, it’s the truth of religion that I call to question.
Let us look at one religion in particular and see what we can learn.
I have chosen Mormonism, for no other reason than that it is a recent religion and therefore its beginnings are easier to research because they are well documented. I assure you that I have no particular grudge against this religion.
Mormonism (The Church of Latter Day Saints) was founded by Joseph Smith, born 1805 in Sharon, Vermont. According to the official story of the LDS Church, in 1820 Smith was visited by God the Father and God the Son, after praying about which church he should join. He was told by Jesus, he should join none of them for they were "all wrong" and all the Christian church’s doctrines "were an abomination" (Joseph Smith - History 19, Pearl of Great Price). This First Vision was followed by several visits from an angel named Moroni who, in 1827, directed Smith to retrieve a set of Golden Plates which had been buried in a hill near Smith’s home in Palmyra, New York. Between 1827-1830, Smith, with the help of friends, translated the Golden Plates into the LDS scripture, the Book of Mormon. Published in 1830, this was to become the first of many scriptures for the Mormon Church. By this time, Smith had also officially organized the LDS Church and was gaining a following.
Amongst their doctrines, I have selected just the one shown here as an example:
Black people are black because of their misdeeds in the pre-existence (Three Degrees of Glory, LDS Apostle Melvin J. Ballard, p. 21). No need to comment on the unbelievable arrant nonsense of this point.
The main point of interest here however, is how Joseph Smith started his new church. He claimed to have had a vision (he was the only one to have had this vision) that told him to start a new church with himself as the leader.(How fortunate for Smith). He was told where to find the ‘golden plates’ that contained ‘the scriptures’ (they just happened to be buried, by an ancient civilisation, conveniently near his home in New York). He set out alone and ‘found’ them alone.(No witnesses). Once found, only he could translate them with the aid of a mystical device that only he was in possession of. (Very fortunate). Smith allowed no one else to see the plates and ‘translated’ them in secret from behind a screen. (Okay, we’ve got the picture).
Smith was a known trickster and fraudster and was charged by the police on a number of occasions for various offenses.
Some may say that the whole thing was an obvious fraud devised by Smith to set himself up as the leader of a new church. Indeed, to believe otherwise would take a monumental leap of faith that would include leaving behind common sense and reason. BUT, Mormonism is a growing religion that has a massive following. Why? Because it was not ‘Smith’s ‘ idea, it was revealed to Smith in a vision, or so he claimed. This is crucial. If he had attempted to start this new church as his idea, without such a ‘devine seal of approval’ the entire concept would never have got off the ground. People wouldn’t have believed tricky Smith, but the words of Jesus, that’s a different matter entirely. It cou
It could be argued however, that it really doesn’t matter how the Mormon Church was founded as many would say it does a lot of good anyway.
As another example of religion we can look to Christianity and The Ten Commandments. Moses was leading the Israelites away from Egypt into the desert. After months of travel the masses were a little discontent, they were making golden idols and generally misbehaving, they needed strong leadership. They wouldn’t listen to Moses, after all, what right did he have to tell them what to do? So Moses heads up (alone) into the high mountain and there, in complete secrecy, is given the ten commandments by God. He returns with the famous stone tablets and reads out the law, the word of God. The law must be obeyed without question because it comes from God, with Moses of course as His chosen spokesman on Earth. Sound familiar? This of course is pretty much the same method as adopted by Joseph Smith in modern times, and why not? it worked for Moses. The s
Our world is not perfect and never will be, so why not get used to it, because that’s the way it is. Religion never has, nor ever will, solve anything. Only we can do that. As for religion, its just make-believe, a heart warming myth to pacify and control the masses who otherwise would not be quite so happy to accept their miserable lot, or their eventual demise. However, we would all be better off without it because no matter how unpalatable the truth may be, its better than living a lie.
Please bear in mind that all of this is nothing more than my personal belief, the way I happen to prefer to view the world we live in. If you prefer to see it differently, that’s fine, because as long as my beliefs do not interfere with your life, and yours mine, we do not have a problem over religion. Religion only becomes a problem when we fight over it, and countless millions of deaths can already be directly attributed to disputes over religion.
hear hear. I quite agree with you. I was born and raised catholic. Ever since I was old enough to ask the proper questions, or to question any of the stories I slowly but surely began to realise that is what they are: stories. I would never disrespect any persons religion, it is their belief, just as I believe in….just say good food. I don’t mean to sound flippant but each to their own is my motto, I won’t hurt you so please don’t hurt me.

"It is of course just as impossible for me to prove that all religions are false as it is for believers to prove that religions are true." …You can’t, and should not have to, prove that something is false. Especially claims that are based on faith.

>Black people are black because of their misdeeds in the pre-existence (Three Degrees of Glory, LDS Apostle Melvin J. Ballard, p. 21).<
That was Ballard’s opinion, not church doctrine.
>Smith was a known trickster and fraudster and was charged by the police on a number of occasions for various offenses.<
Not by his friends and true neighbors. Also, one can be arrested for anything, and nothing, but if there was no crime involved, then it means nothing. I mean, if you are arrested for drunk driving, that makes you a drunk driver, right? Doesn’t matter if you were drunk or not.
>Some may say that the whole thing was an obvious fraud devised by Smith to set himself up as the leader of a new church<
You know, there were SO MANY times in the years since he found the plates, till the time he got killed, that he could have just chucked the whole thing, and then taken his ball and left. Such as the time he and his wife were taking care of their twin babies, who were deathly ill with measles. Joseph was nursing his baby son when a gang broke into their home, dragged Joseph out, stripped him and poured hot tar on him and then feathers. While in the house, his baby died.
>It could be argued however, that it really doesn’t matter how the Mormon Church was founded as many would say it does a lot of good anyway.<
It always has. Even when that devil Joseph smith was running the show.
Why did so many follow him? Because of the Book of Mormon. Only a true prophet could have produced said book.

How to be attracted to my daughter's father again (adults only, please)?
We have known each other for coming up on 4 years and in that time have been through many tough times. He defeated a 10 year drug addiction, he lost his grandmother, I lost my Dad to suicide and then both my Grandparents passed, we had a child together…we have stuck by each other though so much. We have been apart for 8 months, but separated for longer (he was living in the spare room after we broke up). I have dated a few men since him, the last one was some of the most incredible sex of my life but I decided to break it off because I realize what a great man my daughter’s father is. He loves me so much and would do anything in the world for me and our daughter. I truly love him with all my heart and see what an incredible man he is. He is like my best friend. We have decided…well, me actually….he never wanted to leave…but anyway we want to be together and be a family. The only problem is I have lost my physical attraction to him. I think everything I have been through put an enormous strain on our relationship. Mainly my Dad’s suicide. I realize I do need to speak with a professional to cope, it happened two years ago and I have never really taken the steps to grieve. But through all of my anger and confusion and lashing out, he has stuck by my side. We have never really given up on each other. I started to, but have remained close and realize more than ever how much I want to share my life with him. He is an absolutely gorgeous man, nothing has changed about him physically….I believe it is my mental state that has changed things. I just don’t understand how I was so attracted to this last guy who didn’t offer enough emotional support…mainly physical…when my daughter’s father has been there through thick and thin. How do I get my attraction back for him? I love him and really want this to work, but I had pushed him away physically for so long, it seems a bit awkward for me to be intimate with him again. I want to be with him, and maybe even have another child with him one day. I know he still wants me and I know he will always be faithful no matter what. What do I do?
Hi.
talk to him. get to know him again. sex is more than just visual and physical. you need to establish intimacy with him first through talking sex will follow later. just like dating someone- you talk first.
find a good church too. it can help.

How do I install NVIDIA display driver?
Have just reinstalled Windows XP Professional on a crap (being modest here) ACER Aspire 7520 and have trouble with the NVIDIA driver which it will not install properly. The consequences of this are a pretty large windows format. The driver is VGA_Nvidia_6.14.11.145_XPx86 and when I try to install this it asks me the following:
"Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert ‘NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP Driver Library Installation Disk 1′ in the drive you specify."
The location specified is the D drive where I have the driver software installed. I do not possess a disk for any drivers as ACER didn’t provide this and I had to download them.
I cannot fully install this display drive and have a dodgy looking display which is only suitable for severely short-sighted people; i.e. it’s very large compared to what I prefer.
Any help appreciated!
