Has anyone seen it? is it really scary?
Thanks for answering everyone!

Yes. I don’t think it’s scary personally but I found it rather freaky…And freaky is what people aim for on Halloween.

Also what is your opinion of them?

both great movies and should not be missed by a true movie fan.

Young Frankenstein (1974)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072431/

is a comedy starring
Gene Wilder … Dr. Frankenstein
Peter Boyle… The Monster

it’s very funny and has a all star cast.

Inga: Put… ze candle… *back*!

Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026138/

is a great movie starring
Boris Karloff … The Monster (as Karloff)
Colin Clive… Baron Henry von Frankenstein
Elsa Lanchester … Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley / The Monster’s Mate

http://www.doctormacro1.info/Images/Karl off,%20Boris/Annex/Annex%20-%20Karloff,% 20Boris%20(Bride%20of%20Frankenstein,%20 The)_03.jpg

The Monster wants his creator to build him a friend; and Pretorius wants to see dead tissue become a living woman. Henry is forced to give his creature a bride.

trivia:
"The Bride", the most obscure of Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters, is on screen for less than five minutes and is the only "Classic Monster" never to have killed anyone.

Universal Studios made eight Frankenstein movies, starting with Frankenstein (1931), which starred Boris Karloff as the monster. In Bride of Frankenstein (1935), the monster gets a mate. In Son of Frankenstein (1939), Dr Frankenstein’s son Wolf (Basil Rathbone) revives his father’s monster. The monster (Lon Chaney Jr.) is revived again in The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942) and treated by Dr Frankenstein’s son Ludwig (Cedric Hardwicke). The Wolfman (Lon Chaney, Jr) recovers the monster (Bela Lugosi)’s body from a block of ice and he is revived again by Dr Mannering (Patric Knowles) in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943). In House of Frankenstein (1944), mad Doctor Neiman (Boris Karloff) revives the monster (Glenn Strange) in order to exact revenge on his enemies. In House of Dracula (1945), the monster (Glenn Strange) is again found by the Wolfman (Lon Chaney, Jr) and revived by renown Doctor Edelman (Onslow Stevens). Many purists insist that the classic Universal Frankenstein saga ends here, but some also count Bud Abbott Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) in which Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and Doctor Sandra Mornay (Lenore Aubert) attempt to transplant Wilbur (Lou Costello)’s brain into the monster (Glenn Strange).

Every time I take Adderall or Ritalin, I get so angry and depressed when I start to crash and it’s really a problem for me.
Anyone know any ways to eliminate this? Or any tips to make it seem less noticeable? Thanks!

Mark Philippoussis has withdrawn himself from the Australian summer to have knee surgery after the lateral meniscus in his right knee swelled. John Newcombe has said that, by looking at his knees, he doesnt look as though he’d trained enough to build up enough muscle around his knee to remain injury free.

Do you think Philippoussis could have worked harder to remain fit? For example training instead of starring in a TV show. And now that he has again put off another chunk of the tennis season, will he finally accept that he’s done for in tennis, or will we see another lame excuse for a comeback in 2009? And how does Philippoussis’ withdraw from the Australian summer make you feel personally?

As you can probably tell from the wording of my questions, I am very happy that Philippoussis won’t take up any wildcards this summer, instead they can be given to more hardworking Australian tennis players with a future.

Conditioning and work ethic has always been the knock on Philippoussis. He has argulably the biggest serve in the game (if you combine his placement, power, ace potential) and he hits as hard as anyone…but he is inconsistent and very injury prone.

As for how i feel about him skipping grand slam events…my answer would be i have no feelings. He was a top 15 tennis player when he was at his best and i havent heard from him since he lost to Federer in the Wimbledon Finals back in 2003…so it doesnt bother me at all.

I find it somewhat amusing that he actually is still thinking about playing, considering he has been well past his prime (which wasnt really all that good) for 3 or 4 years.

I thought Mark had retired from tennis and picked up acting in reality TV.

I don’t feel any way really about his withdrawal from the Australian Open. He didn’t have a realistic chance of winning anyway.

Mark Philippoussis makes Marat Safin look like a level headed, dedicated ,well grounded tennis professional. Even early Mark’s career, his work ethic was consistently questioned. His fellow Davis Cup players as well as old school coaches John Newcombe and Tony Roche were shocked by his lack of training and commitment.
The fact that he made 2 Slam finals and played a big role in the Aussie Davis Cup win over France just underscores the question of what might have been.
I agree that it’s over and frankly has been over for a while. Justin Gimelstob played 2007 just because he wanted to soak up the great feeling it is to play the top tournaments, but he worked hard to give himself even a little chance of accomplishing something. I certainly hope that up and coming Aussies get the wild card in future tournaments. I know it meant the world to Donald Young to have that chance at the US Open.

I thought that a couple of years ago, when Philippoussis made the Wimbledon final, that he would resurrect his career. That idea got flushed down the toilet really quick. Mark is a guy that had a world of potential and really could have been a wonderful top-10 player. However, having problems with his knee, really kept him from staying healthy enough to fulfill his potential. I think Mark knows that he should’ve worked a lot harder on fitness and focused on tennis more. He got linked with dating several big-name female celebrities, which of course didn’t help his cause. It goes to show that when you allow yourself to get really distracted, sometimes, it backfires on you. I don’t really see Philippoussis returning, because I don’t think his heart is in this like it should be. I can honestly say that it was talent that went to waste, unfortunately as the ATP could’ve used a guy like him to really spice things on the tour, the last couple of years. So, much for hope!!.
djb32067433_1 | Dec 18, 2007

I found it interesting someone would mention Safin with him. Wasn’t it Safin and Philippoussis that accidently headbutted each other rather than just putting away an easy overhead. They wanted to showboat and hit the ball with their head and instead gave each other mild concussions. I think these were the players. Anyway, Philippoussis should give up and move on with his life, whether it be coaching or something else.
James M | Dec 18, 2007

It’s a shame, really. Phillippoussis could have been a great ambassador for the game.
FJSL | Dec 18, 2007

I don’t think it is a matter of lack of effort or not working hard to stay fit. A knee injury has nothing to do with fitness. It can be, and in Philippoussis’s case is, a career-threatening injury. I don’t think he will recover this time, although I do admire him for not giving up.
Michael N | Dec 18, 2007

it does not matter he is passed his prime
par | Dec 18, 2007

HAHAHAHAHA! whats new??? Philippoussis is so f**king s**t its just not even funny anymore. Yes it is true that he has the potential to be good but it is a waste being with this Greek!

Hey do you know that John Mac the commentator beat him in an exhibition a few weeks ago HAHAHAHA! this just goes to show that Greek boy should hang the racket up and shut his mouth cause he cant act either.

Please help me asap. I am planning to leave right now. I was shocked when knew that they closed.

If you’re using the Golden State Freeway truck route - Interstate 5 North and Interstate 580 West - then you’ll have to do the following detour in Oakland:

Merge onto Interstate 880 South.

Then crossover the bay via the San Mateo Bridge - State Route 92 West - and head up to the city using either U.S. Route 101 North or Interstate 280 North. If you’re arriving in the morning, then 280 is usually much faster because it bypasses the airport.

—–

If you’re already using U.S. Route 101 North, then you can simply go all the way from Los Angeles to San Francisco on the same freeway.

There are no bridges involved. And there are no surprises.

Even with the detour though, it is still faster to use Interstate 5. Provided you don’t get lost. By taking 101, you’ll add around two to three hours to your drive. While the detour should take one hour to navigate at most (probably less).

SFdude | Sep 04, 2009

There are plenty of detours and I mean PLENTY. In a area of so many. The city cant have much traffic. So you dont have to worry about getting lost or having to wait or anything.
th3statusqu0 | Sep 04, 2009

Don’t worry! come from Los ANgles come up 101 to San francisco.. <– but that will takes longer

There’s alway San Mateo bridge, which is only 5 mins away from the baybridge. Hope this helps!

1.Go up highway 5 for a few hours
2. then transfer 580 for 10-20 mins-
3. 238 for 5 mins
4. 92 through San Mateo bridge 10-15 mins
5. go up 101 to San Francisco 10 mins..
silvermist | Sep 04, 2009

Frankly, I would just take 101. Hwy 5 is slightly faster but I always take 101. The drive is so much nicer and for me it only adds about an hour. Well worth it and you will completely avoid the whole bridge issue. Hwy 880 south traffic can be terrible in the evenings and eat up all the time you supposedly save by using Hwy. 5.
cathoratio | Sep 04, 2009

SFdude has It rite don’t take 101 on the cost that could be a nightmare.
with all the tourist sight seeing and most of it is 2 lanes. Take the 5 to 580 to 880 like SFdude said.
DON T | Sep 04, 2009

I used to always treat the bay bridge as closed in an interest to save some money. If you’re just going to the city, there’s really no reason to sit in traffic thru the bay bridge. Here’s the route:

- Take I-5 north
- Approximately 3/4 of the way, merge onto CA-152 west towards Gilroy
- After 30min, take US-101 north, which will lead you right into San Francisco

You’re basically crossing south of the bay, which avoids the bridge all-together. Meanwhile, you get to benefit from the speed and short length of the 5 for most of the way.
excelblue | Sep 04, 2009

Hwy 5 to Los Banos/ hwy 152 across to Gilroy / hwy 101..101 to San Francisco..you don’t even need to go anywhere near the Bay Bridge..it goes from Oakland to San Francisco..have a good trip.
